Tennis star Todd Woodbridge encourages others to get checkups after he became a 50-something celebrity after suffering a heart attack.

Woodbridge says he was shocked after experiencing symptoms last Thursday in the 51-year-old's health condition.

The 16-time Grand Slam doubles champion and his one-time Top 20 singles star trains regularly at his gym home in Melbourne and is also active in tournament commentary.

"After traveling to the US Open and London, I've been trying to stick to my routine. I was just exercising and had chest pain and all the symptoms when I googled it. I was full of sweat. , I felt terrible, said Woodbridge.

I had a small heart episode that came off as a mild heart attack, which was a bit of a shock to me.

And you're personally still coming to terms with somebody like myself, who I consider to lead a pretty good, fit, healthy lifestyle – I keep active, I eat well, I do all the right things, I enjoy doing that.
