AI to Replace James Earl Jones' Darth Vader Voice

James Earl Jones appears to be stepping away from voicing the Star Wars character Darth Vader after nearly 40 years.

According to Vanity Fair, the actor, aged 91, has signed over the rights to his voice to filmmakers using artificial intelligence (AI).

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Wood said he had discussed winding down this particular character. “So how do we move forward?”

Throughout the franchise up to this point, Jones voiced the legendary Star Wars villain on both the big and small screens.

Jones provided the deep tones of Vader, which were embodied in the original films by actor David Prowse.

His most recent role was Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+. The EGOT-winning Jones is also a sci-fi epic writer.
